Pro-abortion politicians who claim to be Catholic should not be supporting abortion

There are some pro-abortion politicians who claim to be Catholic in the United States, including the current Vice President, a few of the state governors, some U.S. Congressmen, and some politicians in the state legislatures. All of those pro-abortion politicians who claim to be Catholic are supporting a position that is contrary to divine law, natural law, and Catholic Church teaching. Those politicians who claim to be Catholic should not even be supporting abortion rights in the first place because the Catholic Church has taught the following:

  • Direct abortion is an intrinsically evil act which is always seriously offensive to God.
  • Direct abortion always offends against the sanctity of human life.
  • Direct abortion always constitutes the direct killing of an innocent human being.
  • Direct abortion is never morally justifiable in any circumstance, even when the mother is in danger of death.
  • Human life, including that of unborn human beings, must be protected and respected from the moment of conception.
  • Unborn human beings have an absolutely inviolable right to life under natural law and divine law.
  • Unborn human beings must be entitled to the rights afforded to a person since the moment of conception.
  • Engaging in sexual intercourse while using any form of abortifacient birth control is always intrinsically evil and always seriously offensive to God because such uses of abortifacient birth control are inherently ordered towards two different evil ends, frustrating the sexual act in its natural power to create new human life and causing the death of an unborn child that might be conceived through the abortifacient effects of abortifacient birth control.
  • The Catholic Church has always considered abortion to be morally wrong since the first century, and will always continue to teach that abortion is always morally wrong.

Those politicians and candidates for political office who claim to be Catholic and who support a woman’s right to an abortion are sending the wrong message to voters and to the people that they represent. They are sending the message that it is okay to support legal abortion as a Catholic, even though abortion is always considered to be morally wrong by the Catholic Church. In addition, these politicians and candidates for political office are also sending the message that it is okay to support actions that violate rights that unborn children always have under natural law and that should never be violated in any circumstance. Furthermore, some of the Catholic voters, Catholic candidates for political office, and Catholic politicians have been misled into thinking that it is okay to support abortion rights by pro-abortion Catholic politicians, by pro-abortion organizations that claim to be Catholic, by theologians who support abortion rights in contradiction to Catholic Church teaching, by non-Catholics who support abortion rights, by the influences of other reproductive rights organizations, and by secular influences in society.

Besides sending the wrong message to Catholics and to women who are in crisis pregnancies, supporting abortion rights offends God because abortion violates the God-given rights that unborn children have under divine law and natural law, because the support for abortion by politicians and abortion rights organizations leads some women who are in crisis pregnancies into choosing to have abortions instead of choosing life, and because the performance of abortions always offend God. Those individuals who have supported abortion rights and knew better will have to answer to God for their decision to support abortion rights when they die. Moreover, those individuals who choose to support abortion rights with the knowledge that doing so seriously offends God put their own salvation in jeopardy because they face the danger of eternal punishment in Hell if they die unrepentant of any serious sin.

If all of the pro-abortion Catholic politicians in the United States stopped supporting a woman’s right to an abortion, then a few positive things would likely happen in American politics and American society. First, Catholic voters, Catholic politicians, and Catholic candidates for political office would not receive the wrong message that it is okay to support abortion rights in contradiction of Catholic Church teaching. Second, the abortion rights groups and abortion providers would lose the backing of Catholic politicians if they stopped supporting abortion because these organizations are only willing to back politicians that support keeping abortion legal. Third, more pro-life politicians would likely be elected if Catholic politicians stopped supporting abortion because the attitudes of some voters would change, because some of the pro-life politicians who previously supported abortion rights might get re-elected, and because some of the pro-life candidates for political office who are running against candidates that previously supported abortion rights would get elected. Finally, Catholic politicians would likely support solutions to the problems faced by women who are in crisis pregnancies that do not involve abortion and that respect the right to life of unborn children if they stopped supporting abortion.

Women would not lose access to healthcare if Planned Parenthood is defunded

Although Cecile Richards had argued that women would lose access to healthcare if Planned Parenthood loses its taxpayer funding, women would certainly have access to healthcare if Planned Parenthood is defunded. Women have access to all of the non-abortion services that Planned Parenthood offers at thousands of federally qualified health centers that are not affiliated with Planned Parenthood in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia, and pregnant women can obtain abortions at abortion providers that are not affiliated with Planned Parenthood in 45 states and in the District of Columbia. In addition, other healthcare providers that are not affiliated with Planned Parenthood would fill in the void that might result if Planned Parenthood is defunded. Furthermore, the truth that women would not lose access to healthcare if Planned Parenthood is very obvious to many Americans, including some who support abortion rights and including some of the supporters of Planned Parenthood.

Why would Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards falsely claim that women would lose access to “basic family planning [such as] mammograms” if Planned Parenthood is defunded? She would say this in order to prevent Planned Parenthood from losing its taxpayer funding and to increase the profits of Planned Parenthood, even though this lie is obvious to some of the Americans who support Planned Parenthood. In addition, Cecile Richards might also be saying this in order to persuade women of childbearing age to obtain these services at Planned Parenthood clinics instead of unaffiliated providers so that these women will turn to Planned Parenthood for abortions in the event that they become pregnant. Moreover, Planned Parenthood might be making this false claim in order to subsidize its abortion services.

Planned Parenthood should be defunded by the federal government, even if some individuals believe that they should still receive taxpayer funding, for the following reasons:

  • Women can obtain every service that Planned Parenthood offers at providers who are not affiliated with Planned Parenthood in 45 states and in the District of Columbia.
  • Women can obtain all of the non-abortion services at unaffiliated providers in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia.
  • Planned Parenthood has already fraudulently received government funding that it was not legally entitled to receive from state and federal governments.
  • Planned Parenthood clinics have billed Medicaid for non-abortion services that were rendered to women who have undergone abortions at Planned Parenthood.
  • Planned Parenthood will steer pregnant women who obtain non-abortion medical services at Planned Parenthood clinics towards having an abortion because abortion is their primary source of profit and revenue.
  • Planned Parenthood contributes millions of dollars to the political campaigns of pro-abortion politicians in order to protect its taxpayer funding and its abortion business, whereas most of the other providers that provide the same non-abortion healthcare services do not contribute the large sums of money that Planned Parenthood does to political campaigns.
  • Unlike most other providers that provide the same services as Planned Parenthood, approximately $400 million of private donations are donated to Planned Parenthood and its affiliates every year.
  • Even though Planned Parenthood is primarily in the business of performing abortions and its primary source of revenue is from the abortions performed at Planned Parenthood, Planned Parenthood also misrepresents itself as a comprehensive women’s health provider.
  • Planned Parenthood has been involved in the harvesting of body parts obtained from babies that have been aborted at Planned Parenthood clinics, and Planned Parenthood has illegally profited from the sale of fetal body parts to researchers.
  • An increase in the amount of taxpayer funding that Planned Parenthood receives does lead to an increase in the number of abortions being performed at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.
  • Defunding Planned Parenthood will reduce the number of abortions that are performed at Planned Parenthood clinics.
  • If Planned Parenthood is defunded and if the taxpayer funds go to other federally qualified health centers that do not perform abortions, more women would be able the same non-abortion medical services that are currently provided by Planned Parenthood.
  • Some of the federally qualified health centers provide essential medical services that are not even offered at any of the Planned Parenthood clinics, including but not limited to mammograms, prenatal care, and endometriosis treatment. A more complete list of services that Planned Parenthood does not provide can be found here.

What is wrong with Planned Parenthood and why Planned Parenthood must be defunded

Planned Parenthood claims to be a “trusted health care provider” who “delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide,” but is really a pro-abortion organization whose primary purpose is to make as much money as possible from abortions. In addition, there are many other things that are wrong with Planned Parenthood, including but not limited to the sale of fetal body parts that are harvested from aborted children, the cover-up of statutory rape and the sexual abuse of minors, encouraging children to engage in sexual activity outside of marriage through its sex education programs, lobbying to get pro-abortion politicians elected and to keep abortion legal, pressuring pregnant patients into undergoing an abortion, and lying to prospective abortion patients about the facts of fetal development. As such, Planned Parenthood should lose its government funding, and individuals and corporations should stop donating to Planned Parenthood.

One of the biggest problems with Planned Parenthood is that it misrepresents itself to the government, to its donors, and its potential patients. First, Planned Parenthood claims that without birth control, women are unable to choose when they want to have children and how many children they want to have, but women are actually able to make these decisions without birth control by choosing to completely abstain from sexual activity when they do not want to have children. Second, Planned Parenthood represents abortion as a safe procedure on its website and portrays abortion as being a safe procedure in its YouTube video on in-clinic abortion, but there have been incidents of botched abortions being performed at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics, including an abortion performed at a Chicago Planned Parenthood clinic that resulted in the death of Tonya Reaves back in 2012. Third, even though Planned Parenthood claims that only 3% of its services are abortions, Planned Parenthood performs abortions on approximately 92% of its pregnant patients and Planned Parenthood’s primary source of revenue is from the abortions performed at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. Fourth, Planned Parenthood receives over $500 million dollars of taxpayer funding, but Planned Parenthood has lied to the government in order to receive taxpayer money that it should not have been able to receive in the first place. Moreover, Planned Parenthood misrepresents itself as a comprehensive woman’s healthcare provider that cares about women when they are primarily in the business of performing as many abortions as possible.

Another major problem with Planned Parenthood is that at least some Planned Parenthood clinics are believed to be involved in the sale of fetal body parts from babies who are aborted at Planned Parenthood clinics. It is also believed that Planned Parenthood is violating the law by profiting from the sale of fetal body parts, by altering the manner in which the abortions from which these fetal body parts are obtained, and by performing abortions with the knowledge that fetal body parts will be harvested from these aborted babies and resold. In addition, Abby Johnson has recently admitted that the Planned Parenthood clinic that she used to work for did harvest fetal body parts from aborted babies. Furthermore, there are even indications that Planned Parenthood might possibly be willing to kill babies who are born as a result of a failed abortion in order to harvest fetal body parts. Finally, many individuals are outraged by the harvesting and resale of fetal body parts that are harvested from babies aborted at Planned Parenthood clinics.

In addition to misrepresenting itself as a comprehensive woman’s health provider and in addition to possible involvement in the harvesting and resale of fetal body parts, Planned Parenthood is actively trying to increase demand for abortions in order to make additional profit, and they are taking several measures in an attempt to achieve this goal. First, Planned Parenthood is pushing comprehensive sex education to school-age children with the intentions of increasing the number of sexually active teens, increasing the number of unplanned teenage pregnancies, and increasing the demand for abortion. Second, Planned Parenthood imposes quotas on the number of abortions that each clinic must perform in order to maximize its profits. Third, Planned Parenthood promotes birth control with the knowledge that it will sometimes fail to prevent unplanned pregnancies in order to increase the number of unplanned pregnancies and in order to increase demand for abortion. Additionally, pregnant women who seek medical care at Planned Parenthood clinics are usually pressured into undergoing an abortion by Planned Parenthood employees because Planned Parenthood wants to do as many abortions as they can and because they want to make as much money as they can off of abortions. Furthermore, Planned Parenthood is willing to cut corners on patient safety to maximize profits, to increase the efficiency of its abortion operations, and to increase the number of abortions that it can perform. Finally, Planned Parenthood actually cares more about the money than it does about protecting the health of women and reducing the number of unplanned pregnancies.

Individuals and corporations must stop donating to Planned Parenthood, and taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood by federal, state, and local governments must also be stopped for several reasons. First, Planned Parenthood is using the taxpayer funding and donations in order to increase demand for abortions. Second, Planned Parenthood misrepresents itself to the government, to the general public, to its patients, and to its prospective patients in order to receive donations and taxpayer funding that it would not otherwise receive. Third, Planned Parenthood might be covering the cost of abortions by overcharging Medicaid and other health insurance companies for other medical services that are rendered to patients who had undergone an abortion at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. Furthermore, Planned Parenthood contributes large sums of money to the campaigns of pro-abortion candidates in order to ensure that they can continue to legally make money off of its abortion services, and the large sums of money paid to these campaigns come from taxpayer funds, donations, and abortion revenue. If people and companies stopped donating to Planned Parenthood and if the taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood is stopped, there will be a reduction in the demand for Planned Parenthood’s abortion services and Planned Parenthood would not be contributing large sums of money to the campaigns of pro-abortion candidates.

The Catholic Church is correct in its teaching against contraception

Even though there are people who believe that the Catholic Church should change its teaching against contraception, the Catholic Church is correct in teaching that contracepted sexual intercourse is always intrinsically evil. The Catholic Church cannot change its teaching against contraception because this teaching has already been taught infallibly, because contracepted sexual intercourse always violates natural law, and because contracepted sexual intercourse is always evil in the eyes of God.

Even though all of the major Protestant denominations currently consider the use of contraception to be morally acceptable within marriage, there was a time when all of the Protestant denominations considered the use of contraception to be morally wrong. In fact, every major Protestant denomination had considered the use of contraception to be morally wrong until the Seventh Lambeth Conference in 1930 when the Church of England decided that the use of contraception by married couples could be justified if there was a sufficiently serious reason to limit or avoid parenthood. This decision had led to the acceptance of contraception by all of the other major Protestant denominations.

In order to understand why the choice to engage in contracepted sexual intercourse is always morally wrong and always gravely offensive to God, one needs to understand that God is the creator of all human beings and is the author of life and death. Here are some verses from Sacred Scripture that show that God is the creator of human life and the author of life and death:

  • “God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
  • “See now that I, I alone, am he, and there is no god besides me. It is I who bring both death and life, I who inflict wounds and heal them, and from my hand no one can deliver.” (Deuteronomy 32:39)
  • “Please, please, God of my father, God of the heritage of Israel, Master of heaven and earth, Creator of the waters, King of all you have created, hear my prayer!” (Judith 9:12)
  • “Has not one God created us?” (Malachi 2:10)

Here is a story from the Old Testament of the Bible that shows that contraceptive behavior is gravely offensive in the eyes of God: “Onan, however, knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he had intercourse with his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground, to avoid giving offspring to his brother. What he did greatly offended the Lord, and the Lord took his life too” (Genesis 38:9-10). Onan was punished with death by God because Onan had deliberately prevented conception from occurring whenever he engaged in sexual intercourse with Tamar through the withdrawal method. It was not the mere refusal to satisfy the levirate that warranted punishing Onan with the death penalty, since the penalty for merely refusing to satisfy the levirate is to have one’s shoe taken off and to be spat in one’s face according to Deuteronomy 25:8-10. Likewise, those who engage in sexual intercourse while using an artificial contraceptive such as a condom, a diaphragm, an IUD, or the birth control pill also seriously offend God because these acts, like Onan’s sin of withdrawal, involve engaging in acts of sexual intercourse while simultaneously preventing these acts from resulting in the conception of a new human being.

When couples engage in contracepted sexual intercourse, they are choosing to deprive sexual acts of their procreative potential and deciding that an unborn child should not come into being as a result of their contracepted sexual acts. Thus, the decision to prevent bringing about a new child through the use of contraception is at odds with the will of God because the decision on whether or not a child should come into being as a result of sexual intercourse rightfully belongs to God alone and also because God is the creator of all human life. Furthermore, many of the contracepting couples are choosing to avoid contraception through abortifacient forms of birth control, such as the birth control pill, and the choice to engage in sexual intercourse while using abortifacient forms of birth control also offends God because abortifacent forms of birth control have the additional mechanism of preventing implantation of a newly conceived embryo from occurring.

Here is what the Catholic Church has taught regarding the use of contraception:

  • In response to the Seventh Lambeth Conference in 1930, Pope Pius XI taught that “any use whatsoever of matrimony exercised in such a way that the act is deliberately frustrated in its natural power to generate life is an offense against the law of God and of nature, and those who indulge in such are branded with the guilt of a grave sin” (Casti Connubii, n. 56).
  • Pope Pius XI had taught that “each and every marital act must of necessity retain its intrinsic relationship to the procreation of human life” in Humanae Vitae (n. 11).
  • Pope John Paul had taught in Donum Vitae that “contraception deliberately deprives the conjugal act of its openness to procreation and in this way brings about a voluntary dissociation of the ends of marriage.”
  • In his Address on Responsible Procreation, Pope John Paul II had taught that “Contraception is to be judged objectively so profoundly illicit that it can never, for any reason, be justified. To think, or to say, anything to the contrary is tantamount to saying that in human life there can be situations where it is legitimate not to recognize God as God. Users of contraception attribute to themselves a power that belongs only to God, the power to decide in the final instance the coming into existence of a human being.”
  • Pope John Paul II had also taught in Evangelium Vitae that “The close connection which exists, in mentality, between the practice of contraception and that of abortion is becoming increasingly obvious. It is being demonstrated in an alarming way by the development of chemical products, intrauterine devices and vaccines which, distributed with the same ease as contraceptives, really act as abortifacients in the very early stages of the development of the life of the new human being” (n. 13).

In order to show that Protestants also previously believed that contraception is morally wrong, here are some quotes from the major Protestant reformers that show that these reformers considered the use of contraception to be morally wrong:

  • Martin Luther once proclaimed that “the purpose of marriage is not pleasure and ease but the procreation and education of children and the support of a family … People who do not like children are swine, dunces, and blockheads, not worthy to be called men and women, because they despise the blessing of God, the Creator and Author of marriage” (Christian History, Issue 39, p. 24).
  • Martin Luther also said that “Onan must have been a most malicious and incorrigible scoundrel. This is a most disgraceful sin. It is far more atrocious than incest and adultery. We call it unchastity, yes, a Sodomitic sin … Surely at such a time the order of nature established by God in procreation should be followed.”
  • John Calvin said the following in his Commentaries on Genesis 38:8-10: “The voluntary spilling of semen outside of intercourse between man and woman is a monstrous thing. Deliberately to withdraw from coitus in order that semen may fall to the ground is doubly monstrous. For this is to extinguish the hope of the race and to kill before he is born — the hoped for offspring.”
  • The Synod of Dordt said that the act of Onan “was even as much as if he had, in a manner, pulled forth the fruit out of the mother’s womb and destroyed it.”

The Catholic Church is correct in teaching that contracepted sexual intercourse is always morally wrong, despite widespread acceptance of contraception by all of the major Protestant denominations and despite widespread disobedience of the Catholic Church’s teaching against contraception by Catholics. First and foremost, the Catholic Church’s teaching against contraception has already been taught infallibly by the Catholic Church, and therefore free from error, free from the possibility of error, and unchangeable. Second, contracepted sexual intercourse is always contrary to the law of God, always contrary to natural law, always seriously offensive to God, and always evil in the eyes of God, regardless of the intention or the circumstances, and as such is always morally wrong. Third, contracepted sexual intercourse had been considered to be morally wrong by every Protestant denomination between the time of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500’s until the Seventh Lambeth Conference in 1930. Fourth, the choice to engage in contracepted sexual intercourse is at odds with the will of God on the matter of whether a child should be conceived as a result of sexual intercourse. Finally, the widespread acceptance of contraception by Christians has led to many seriously bad consequences, including the danger to the souls of those who have used contraception, the breakdown of the family, an increase in the divorce rate, abortions of unborn children conceived as a result of contraceptive failure, an increased willingness to engage in sexual activity when the conception of a new child is not desired, an increased willingness to pursue extramarital affairs, and an increased willingness to engage in sexual activity outside of marriage.

What is wrong with Planned Parenthood?

Even though many people believe that Planned Parenthood is a “trusted health care provider” who “delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide,” there are many things wrong with Planned Parenthood.

Here are some of the things that are wrong with Planned Parenthood:

  • Planned Parenthood is primarily in the business of providing abortions, despite statistics which claim that only 3% of its services are abortions, because abortions are its primary source of revenue and because Planned Parenthood’s core service is abortion.
  • Planned Parenthood is focusing on growing its abortion business and increasing its profit margin instead of concentrating on its non-abortion services.
  • In cases where a pregnant woman whose pregnancy is unplanned comes into a Planned Parenthood clinic, the Planned Parenthood clinic will usually encourage her to undergo an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic instead of providing her with the help that she needs in order to have the baby and to either give up the baby for adoption or to take care of the baby after birth.
  • Planned Parenthood receives over $500 million in taxpayer money every year, and this taxpayer money does enable Planned Parenthood to perform more abortions by freeing up other money that Planned Parenthood does have.
  • An increase in the amount of taxpayer funding that Planned Parenthood receives leads to both an increase in the amount of abortions and an decrease in the amount of non-abortion services being provided by Planned Parenthood.
  • Planned Parenthood operates the largest abortion facility in the United States, which is located in Houston, TX, and this abortion facility opened on May 11, 2010.
  • Many of the activities that Planned Parenthood engages in are intrinsically evil, including but not limited to performing abortions, providing contraceptives for the purposes of preventing pregnancy, obtaining money for abortions through fraudulent billing to government health care programs, indoctrinating children into engaging in intrinsically evil sexual acts through sex education programs, and formally cooperating in intrinsically evil acts by actively promoting abortion, contraception, and non-marital sexual activity.
  • Planned Parenthood clinics often cover up the sexual abuse of pregnant minors by failing to report the sexual abuse of pregnant minors as required under sexual abuse reporting laws.
  • Planned Parenthood clinics are willing to facilitate sex trafficking and the sexual abuse of minors by providing sex traffickers and sexual abusers with contraceptives and by allowing these abusers to bring the girls who they are sexually abusing into Planned Parenthood clinics for an abortion if these girls who are being sexually abused become pregnant.
  • Planned Parenthood workers misrepresent the facts of fetal development and dehumanize the unborn child in order to persuade potential abortion patients that it is not a baby that they are aborting.
  • Some of the women who have undergone abortions at a Planned Parenthood clinic have suffered serious complications that required emergency medical treatment. In addition, Tonya Reaves died from an abortion performed at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Chicago in July 2012.
  • Planned Parenthood has attempted to cover up the botched abortion incidents by lying to those who are seeking to obtain an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic and falsely claiming that these botched abortion incidents did not occur.
  • Women and girls have been harmed as a result of various activities by Planned Parenthood, including but not limited to botched abortions, cover-up of the sexual abuse of minors, misrepresentation of the facts of fetal development, misrepresentation of the safety of the abortion procedures being performed at Planned Parenthood clinics, and coercion into undergoing an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic.
  • Planned Parenthood actively promotes activities that are always intrinsically evil and always seriously contrary to natural law and divine law, including abortion, contraception, and non-marital sexual activity.
  • Planned Parenthood clinics have quotas for abortions and will coerce women and girls who are pregnant into undergoing an abortion in order to make money and fulfill quotas for abortion.
  • Planned Parenthood will provide contraceptives that are known to fail to prevent unplanned pregnancies since it knows that providing contraceptives will lead to unplanned pregnancies and create demand for its abortion services.
  • Planned Parenthood contributes money to and participates in the political campaigns of pro-abortion candidates in order to advance its pro-abortion agenda.
  • Planned Parenthood’s sex education programs are designed to create demand for abortion by encouraging children to engage in non-marital sexual activity prior to adulthood and by weakening the sexual inhibitions of children.
  • Children are being exposed to inappropriate sexually explicit content through Planned Parenthood’s sex education programs.
  • Through its sex education programs, Planned Parenthood attempts to normalize sexual behaviors that in reality are intrinsically evil and abnormal behavior, including pre-marital intercourse, masturbation, sodomy, and BDSM.
  • Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was a eugenicist, a supporter of birth control, and supported the elimination of minority populations.
  • Planned Parenthood continues to target minority populations and most of its clinics in the United States are located in minority neighborhoods.
  • Planned Parenthood is believed to be involved in the sale of fetal body parts obtained from aborted babies.

It is very obvious that there are a lot of things wrong with Planned Parenthood, and abortion is at the tip of that iceberg. Planned Parenthood needs to be stripped of its government funding and people need to stop donating to Planned Parenthood because the government funds and donations are going towards expanding Planned Parenthood’s abortion business instead of helping women, because some of the funding is being spent on sex education programs that are designed to encourage non-marital sexual activity and increase demand for abortions, because Planned Parenthood has lied to the government and its donors in order to receive government funding and donations, because at least some Planned Parenthood clinics are engaging in illegal conduct, and because Planned Parenthood engages in activities that are morally objectionable.

Here is a link to Planned Parenthood Exposed by Live Action that exposes the abuses that are happening at Planned Parenthood clinics in the United States.

Here is a link to the STOPP project by the American Life League, which also exposes what is going behind the scenes at Planned Parenthood.

The immorality and the bad consequences of contraception

Contracepted sexual intercourse refers to acts of sexual intercourse in which at least one of the persons involved has deprived the sexual act of its procreative potential by actively attempting to prevent a process essential to natural human reproduction from occurring. As such, contracepted sexual intercourse is intrinsically evil and always offensive to God since engaging in this kind of sexual act is always inherently ordered by the very nature of the act towards closing the sexual act towards the conception of new life, depriving the sexual act of its procreative potential, and depriving the sexual act of its proper meaning.

God has designed human sexual intercourse to be an act in which a married man and his wife become one flesh and cooperate with God in bringing forth new life. The choice to engage in contracepted sexual intercourse goes against the natural purpose of human sexual intercourse and the will of God since contracepted sexual intercourse seeks to close the act of sexual intercourse to the possibility of new human life. Furthermore, God is offended by acts of contracepted sexual intercourse because God is the creator of new human life, because those engaging in contracepted sexual intercourse are seeking to prevent the conception of a new human being, and because some couples engage in contracepted sexual intercourse at times where God otherwise intends to create a new life. Additionally, God is offended by the deaths of newly conceived human beings that result from the use of abortifacent contraceptives, which can also act by preventing implantation from occurring if the abortifacent contraceptive fails to prevent conception from occurring.

Up until the Lambeth Conference of 1930, the use of contraception had been considered to be morally wrong by every Christian denomination. At the Lambeth Conference of 1930, the Church of England decided that the use of contraception by married couples could be morally licit in circumstances where there are sufficiently serious reasons to avoid parenthood and where there is a morally sound reason to avoid complete sexual abstinence. Since then, the use of contraception had become acceptable in the eyes of many Christian married couples and more widespread among Christian couples. The Catholic Church still continues to uphold its teaching against contraception, but there are many Catholics who choose to engage in contracepted sexual intercourse in contradiction to the Catholic Church’s teachings. The widespread acceptance of contraception by those who profess to be Christian, even by those who are not Catholic, still does offend God, even though many of the people who consider contraception to be acceptable do not view contraception to be offensive by God.

The acceptance of contraception by many Christians has had widespread consequences throughout the world. First, the acceptance of contraception has led to an increase in sexual activity outside of marriage as well as an increase in sexual activity within marriage by married couples at times where the conception of a new child is not desired. Second, the increased availability of contraceptives, the availability of more reliable forms of contraception such as the birth control pill, and the increased acceptance of contraception have enabled couples to engage in sexual intercourse without having to think about an unplanned pregnancy, but no form of contraception is foolproof protection and the possibility of unplanned pregnancy is still there with contraceptive use. Third, the increase in sexual activity that has resulted from the acceptance of contraception has led to more unplanned pregnancies and an increase in the rate of sexually transmitted disease transmission. Fourth, some of the unplanned pregnancies are being aborted, but this consequence is the result of an increased acceptance of contraception, an increased willingness to engage in sexual activity in circumstances where the conception of a new child is not desired, an increase in sexual activity as a result of widespread acceptance of contraception, and the legalization of abortion in most of the world. Fifth, there has been an increase in the divorce rate since the 1960’s, and acceptance of contraception, the legalization of abortion, an increase in childless marriages, and extramarital affairs have all played a role in this increase of the divorce rate. Sixth, the acceptance of contraception has led to a lowering in moral standards and reduced birth rates in countries where contraceptive use is widespread. The bad consequences of the widespread acceptance of contraception have turned out to be worse than what was predicted by most people 50 years ago.
